As we wait for Illinois bar exam results for February 2015, let’s discuss the changes the Illinois bar examiners are making to the Illinois bar exam.

The minimum passing score on the Illinois bar exam will increase beginning with the July 2015 bar exam.

The current minimum passing score is a combined written and MBE score of 264. Effective for the July 2015 bar exam, the minimum passing score will be a combined written and MBE score of 268. Effective for the July 2016 bar exam, the minimum passing score will be 272.

In other words, Illinois is making it harder for their Illinois students to achieve a passing score. Hit hardest is always the repeat taker – because they need any point they can squeeze out of the exam. 4 extra points for July 2015 bar exam is no easy task. Bar Professors may be able to help those repeat takers get the extra points for passing.
