Bar Exam Results for July 2012: California Bar Exam Statistics

The California Bar Exam Results has released its results for private look-up. Now, let’s look at the statistics.

The passing rate for 6,485 first-time applicants was 68 percent overall. The passing rate for the 2,252 applicants repeating the examination was 18 percent overall. The overall pass rate was 55%.

Here are the pass rates according to law school categories:

For California ABA law schools: 77% for first time takers; 24% for repeat takers

For Out of State ABA law schools: 64% for first time takers; 21% for repeat takers

For California Accredited but not ABA law schools: 32% for first time takers; 11% for repeat takers

For Unaccredited fixed faculty: 14% for first time takers; 4% for repeat takers

For Unaccredited Correspondence: 30% for first time takers; 16% for repeat takers

For Unaccredited Distance Learning: 20% for first time takers; 15% for repeat takers

For the Attorney’s Bar: 152 (34.9 percent) of the 435 lawyers who took the Attorneys' Examination passed.
